Primet CEO Larry Thomas to Speak at Major Electric Vehicle Conference on Cost Reduction
March 11, 2011 | Ithaca, NY | Primet Precision Materials CEO Larry Thomas will be a presenter at the 3rd International EV Battery Tech Conference/Global Cost Reduction Initiative, March 30-31 in London. Mr. Thomas’ presentation will address the critical issue of lithium ion battery raw material component costs and how they can be reduced to yield less costly auto battery cells/packs.
The auto industry recognizes that current lithium ion battery costs approaching $1000/kWh must drop by more than half in order to reduce EV prices in the marketplace and accelerate consumer acceptance of this transportation option. Key to this cost reduction are the costs of electrode materials, which traditional means of chemical production have been only marginally successful at bringing down. Primet’s patented NanoScission™ process technology can dramatically lower electrode material costs while at the same time supporting industrially scalable manufacturing required to make the large quantities of materials needed by the auto EV industry.
Mr. Thomas will speak on day two of the conference which focuses on cutting edge materials advances, next generation cell chemistries and solutions for improving the safety and recyclability of EV batteries. Primet is a conference co-sponsor in the raw materials category.
